The accident took place in Litchfield County around 9 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 22, when the teen was talking with the driver of the Charger, who was a family member, on Route 222 (Hill Road), in Harwinton, said Connecticut State Pollice.
The teen who was standing on the shoulder of the roadway was hit when the second car, a Pontiac, swerved to the miss the stopped Charger, state police said.
The teen, identified as Kailey Prenoveau, of Harwinton, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Both vehicles were severely damaged and towed from the scene.
State Police shut down the road for hours to investigate the accident.
